The women’s game of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Banten versus Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) was the opening act of LIMA Basketball Nationals 2018, on Thursday (9/8). The winner of the Greater Jakarta Conference (GJC), UPH, still shows its resilience. In the Pul X preliminary round held at the GOR of Airlangga University Campus C, Surabaya, UPH brilliantly beat UM, ranked third in the East Java Conference (EJC), with a score of 73-24.

UPH was able to give 11 points straight in the first quarter. Despite having to serve UM resistance in the middle of this quarter, UPH nicely opened his victory with a temporary score of 17-6.

An additional 16 points made it into the UPH collection. With a six-point contribution from Audy Natazia’s two three-point shots (back number 88), the white-shirted team again widened their lead in the second quarter. Until the half-time break, UPH is still ahead with a difference of 22 points, 33-11.

UPH continued to attack in the second half of the match. Fajar Kusumasari’s team added 20 points in the third quarter. This contrasts with his opponent, UM, who is only able to add three points. In addition to attacking nicely, the strong defense also made UPH far superior to the end of the third quarter with a score of 53-14.

In the last quarter, UM seemed aggressive attacking. An additional 10 points will be the most successful that was printed by Juni Adi Cahyanto’s foster children. Even so, the results cannot change the position. UPH is still too tough for the Malang team. UPH won the match with a score of 73-24.

“This first victory doesn’t determine anything. There are still other matches. In my opinion, the map of strength in our area is not evenly distributed because we only met teams from the East Java region. However, all teams that qualify for this national phase have the opportunity, “said Fajar, UPH head coach, after the match.

UPH, the champion of GJC, is in the Pul X standings. With a composition of four teams, three of them are ranked third in the EJC. UPH became the only team in Pul X from the outside of East Java.
