Lippo Village (7/12), Microsoft continues to develop its investment in Indonesia by inaugurating Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) at the University of Pelita Harapan.
This ceremony was attended by Microsoft executives, UPH rectorates and academics as well as representatives of Department of Communication and Information of Indonesia.
Also present at the event, senior VP Emerging Markets Microsoft, Orlando Ayala. Ayala visit to Indonesia besides to watch the MIC ceremony at UPH, also to ensure the continuity of innovation development programs in Indonesia and the existence of the Microsoft Innovation Center on other campuses.
Ayala, in his speech stated that there are three important things to be achieved in the UPH MIC which are capacity building, job creation, and research.
He also explains the presence of MIC is expected that students can benefit it by creating an entirely new innovation which can be applied not only in college, but potentially for creating new businesses, and also useful for the country.
This facility will provide technical resource and business to accelerate local software innovation and long-term economic development in Indonesia.
Activities conducted at UPH MIC are of training, application development, research and working on various projects, especially for the small business industry. UPH MIC will also cooperate with Mochtar Riady Institute for Nano Technology for the manufacture of DNA pattern data base.
MIC is designed to help students, IT professionals and businesses in developing technical skills. The offer includes a software development course and safety, employment opportunities for students, and instructor certification courses. There is also a special program called the Student-2-Business (S2B), which provides training and today’s technology or future use of technologies that can provide skills for students to enter the market soon after they graduated.
MIC was established earlier in four public universities which are University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Institute Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, and Institut Teknologi Bandung. (jfs-CA/cyn)
