You have every reason to be happy if your family has a family business, because at least the family and its descendants will have sufficient sources for living, no need to depend on other people. However, you also have to be careful in managing the family business; there are some things you should consider in order to maintain it.

“It is quite alright actually if all working positions are held by family members, but it would be better when there is a professional in the business. This is important in order for the business getting objective inputs,” said Patricia Susanto, a Business Developer from Jakarta Consulting Group in a book review titled “Sang Profesional” (The Professional) written by Tikno Iensufiie ? an UPH Leadership and Communication Skill lecturer ? at MYC Multipurpose Room, UPH Lippo Village Campus, Friday (7/5).
“Actually, family and business are two oxymoron things. Family is associated with love, togetherness, fun, while business usually means the strongest one wins ? if you don?t like a person then just fire him,” added Patricia. Thus, she conveyed the importance of a professional in the family business so that business can grow, especially when the company is experiencing a big problem. |
Another speaker was Helena Rebecca or Ribka, an Indonesia Language lecturer at UPH. She discussed the intrinsic aspect of the novel. “In the novel there are approximately 50 characters, but only two characters that really build the story, namely Judith and Marion. Both of them reflect a professional attitude,” said Ribka.
Judith is a President Director of a big company. She is very careful in making decisions, independent, and willing to learn in order to master her profession. |
