The 4th National Piano Competition that was held by Conservatory of Music UPH conducted successfully. The jurors set Anthony Hartono, 15 years old, from the Senior Division category, as the champion. He is entitled to receive the prestigious Trophy Poet Award, and a Platinum scholarship to continue his studies in bachelor degree on Music in the Conservatory of Music UPH, including a cash prize of 20 million rupiah.

Mario S. Santoso, as an Artistic Director in this competition who is also a lecturer Conservatory of Music UPH, said that the main purpose of this competition is not only to get winners by elimination process, but more important is the educational purpose by giving away valuable inputs from the jurors to each of the participants.

According to Anthony, this competition is quite competitive and weighty, not only national standards but also supported by prominent judges. In additions, this competition is devoted to the works of Chopins so that it make the participant have to really practice.

In preparing this competition he had practiced hard enough with Mrs. Midya Wirawan LRSM from the Yudisitra music school in Semarang and Mr. P. Johannes in Jakarta. “They admire the works of Bach and Mozart, so that gave me many inspirations in playing the complex music that sounds simple,” Anthony said.

This young pianist confessed that he was getting enough depth teaching primarily in terms of skills, techniques, and how to dramatize the works of Chopin. With a strong desire in joining this competition, Anthony is proving that his strong determination got him as a nobel Poet Award and the champion.

?For the future I still don?t know for sure, but most likely I will get my bachelor in UPH.? Said Anthony who is now in the year 10th homeschooling in the Kak Seto ? Semarang. (oas)
