The Gender Issue in Indonesian PR Industry?s was discussed in Harvard University

Dr. phil. Deborah Nauli Simorangkir, B.A, M.S., the Head of Communication Science Department from Social and Political Science Faculty of Universitas Pelita Harapan ? Karawaci, was invited by Harvard University to deliver a presentation in ?The International Journal of Arts and Science Conference?, on 31 May to 3 June 2010.

?In this paper, I still talk about gender issues in Indonesian PR Industry, however I focus on Role Congruity Theory, and I also discuss the Indonesians? expectations and presumptions toward PR female practitioners? roles and functions,? said a lecturer who is also known as Ms. D.

“The participants seemed interested in my topic and findings. After the presentation, there were so many questions, and some of them would like to share their experiences related to gender issues in their professions,? she said.

She wishes all her students in the Communication Science UPH would also be able to produce scientific works, because in the academic world there is a saying, ?Publish or Perish?. That means, if we do not publish our findings or thoughts, then later on it will just perish ? disappear, and there will be no transfer of knowledge that can advance our society. (oas)
