All the finalists of ASEAN Challenge 2010 Essay and Presentation Prize

Still in the spirit of International Relations Fiesta 2010, several competitions were also held. One of them was ?ASEAN Challenge 2010: Essay and Presentation Competition Prize?. This competition was followed by several campuses from Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) and other cities such as Bandung, Jogjakarta, & Bali, altogether was 18 participants.

In the ASEAN Challenge 2010 competition, participants were required to make essays about ASEAN in 2015, especially in economy, its challenges & solutions. The essay submission is from September 6 ? 20, 2010. This competition involved jury who are very expert in their fields; among others are Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph. D (Dean of FISIP UPH), Prof. Hariyadi Wirawan Ph. D (Department Head of International Relations UI), Muhammad Iman Usman (President of Indonesian Future Leaders ? IFL, and Young Ambassador of ASEAN ? Indonesia), Wibawanto Nugroho (Representative of Ministry of Defense), Dr. Ben Perkasa Drajat (Foreign Affair Ministry Training Center), and Wisnu Eddy Pratignyo (Directorate Sub Head of ASEAN Functional Cooperation).

5 chosen finalists were invited to present their essays before the jury on October 12, 2010. The finalists were from Parahyangan University, University of Padjajaran, Gajah Mada University, University of Indonesia, and  Udayana University. In about 5 minute time period, each finalist was to present his/her essay and answer jury?s questions.

Jury selected two best finalists; the winner was Jeffrey Ariesta Putra, a student of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences ? Udayana UNiversity, Bali ? with his essay titled ?Indonesia in Preparation, the Challenge and Solution for ASEAN 2015?. The runner up was Putri Karina, a student of Communication Science Faculty ? University of Padjajaran, Bandung ? with the essay titled ?Ready for Globalization with Mutual Understanding, Mutual Partnership, Conflict Solving and Sense of Belonging for Global ASEAN in 2015?.

Jeffrey stated that this competition is very beneficial to all students in order to further develop their knowledge, particularly on ASEAN 2015. He also hoped that his essay on small and medium business can be realized in the future. (feb)
