Former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia John Anderson Gave Public Lecture at UPH

Former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Leader of the National Party of Australia The Hon John Anderson AO MA explained the importance of having integrity in life in his pubic lecture held at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) on December 2, 2011. The two-hour lecture was entitled Politics with Integrity: Myth or Reality.

To the Indonesian youths, Anderson ordered to always uphold the integrity in doing anything. To possess integrity, there were three important things considered; values, ethics, and behavior. These values can be obtained through education in family. With integrity, corruption can be eradicated.

The key is to believe what is right and wrong and believe that there is something greater than ourselves. Press also encourages politicians to not corrupt by publishing positive news. He complained about more negative news published in media. This may discourage the politicians to uphold integrity and do what is right.

?I have no doubt that many of you young people can contribute hugely to the positive future to your country,? told John Anderson in the end of his speech. After giving this public lecture, Anderson would also gave commencement speech at the UPH Commencement XX held on December 3, 2011. (dee)
