Library Annual Event or Libanev was held for the fifth time on Monday, April 9th 2012 until Saturday, April 14th 2012. It was held to celebrate World Book Day which falls in April. Libanev was themed differently every year. This year, the Libanev was themed ?Library and Environment?. ?Through library, we also want to have impacts to society. Since environment is being an important issue nowadays, we choose environment for this year?s theme?, said Mr. Dama as the coordinator of Libanev 2012. |
he Johannes Oentoro Library was decorated with a variety of environmental elements such as trees, leaves, grass , and also the facts about the environment. |
|
In Libanev 2012, the committee held storytelling workshop and competition, community service, games, gave out some souvenirs to library users, staffs, and UPH students. Last but not least, they also decorated the library themed environment. |
?This year we focus on storytelling. There was storytelling workshop held on Wednesday, April 11th 2012, with professional storyteller, who is experienced?, Mr. Dama explained. The workshop, which was opened to public, was attended by around 80 participants. The participants came from various occupation related to education, such as UPH Teacher College students, librarians, teacher even parents.

The storytelling competition, which was opened only for UPH students, was held on different day with 11 contestants. From these 11 contestants were then selected 3 best contestants. All of these 3 contestants were teacher college students. They were later challenged to tell story to the children on community service event. The community service was held on Saturday, April 14th 2012 at Desa Teluk Naga. Those 3 best contestants were challenged to tell a story to 50 children there. The theme for the storytelling was also abut environment. Those 3 storyteller by the contestants were about illegal logging, water-pollution, and the use of paper which made from trees. |
Besides storytelling, the Johannes Oentoro Library also donated books and built colportage in Desa Teluk Naga. The Johannes Oentoro Library itself was also decorated with environmental theme. ?By being decorated like this, the library felt more comfortable, because it is looked more green?, said Yohanna, one of library users. |
?Libanev 2012 got less visitors than Libanev 2011. It might be because of there are other several events in UPH, so the students are interested in them more rather than library?s event?, Mr. Dama continued. Nevertheless, Mr. Dama hoped the next Libanev could promote this event better and could cooperate with students organization such as BEM and HMJ to attract more students. |
