After graduating college, there are many scholars still have no idea where they should work. Some want to be entrepreneurs, running family business or working somewhere without passion.

To help UPH students pursuing the right career path, Career Development & Alumni Center held workshop on November 14, 2012 themed “How to Get Oil & Gas Career” at MYC. This workshop was the follow up of the first workshop held on October 17, 2012 with different theme.

“This time, the workshop will help the students to get involved as there will be focus group discussion in the end of the session. It is done so that the students can move forward and get involved actively,” told Merlinda Jusak , Head of UPH Career Center.

She explained that career in oil and gas industry had a great prospect in the future. Even in terms of finance and facilities, oil and gas company provides the best for the employee’s welfare.

“There are so many students, especially in UPH, who do not know the career path in oil and gas industry. Maybe, they have not thought about working here or how to work in this field. Thus, we’d like to organize this workshop. Here, we invite the Dimensi Recruitment, the agent for oil and gas companies including Apgreid oil and gas course,” explained Merlinda.

According to Director of Dimensi Recruitment, UPH students are lucky to be able to study at prestigious college with good infrastructure. Therefore, it is good for them to work in a prestigious place too. One of those promising industries is oil and gas industry, besides banking.

“By analizing the feedback form, I see that many students here are interested in oil and gas industry. However, can they work on it? It is a serious task for them to fill out the gaps that may get them closer to the industry. This is where we take part: provide the initiation,” Jaime Simson told.

The chance of getting into oil and gas industry is actually big, but only a strong person with strong intention can get in. It is because the industry demands high and selective requirement. Many fresh graduates who get into the business came from top universities, suchas UI, ITB, and ITS.

jaime Simson, who is an alumnus of UPH Master of Law Program, hoped that in the few years ahead, there wouldbe many UPH graduates who work in oil company. “So, this is an initiation program.” (tna)
