Today, the academic community of Universitas Pelita Harapan participated in the flag ceremony to celebrate the 68th Indonesia Independence Day.

In his Independence Day speech, UPH Rector brought up the theme of ?political stability and economic growth to boost the people?s welfare?. He reminded to all of UPH academic community to reflect the future of Indonesia. In regards to the current problems in Indonesia, the Rector expressed that many of these problems are still in need of the attention from every community?s components.
?We are pleased to see the bright economic growth, but this does not mean that there are no challenges in that growth. Because of that, the elements of University are expected to give their thoughts and inputs to prepare for the future with the economic growth and people?s welfare,? said Parapak.
In regards to people?s welfare, Parapak also reminded the academic community to do a real contribution to the nation through the means of education. He emphasized the commitment of Pelita Harapan Education Foundation and UPH, to give a holistic and plenary education in order to make realize the nation that has been built by the founder of Indonesia.
In his speech, Rector also announced the theme of UPH for the academic year 2013/2014, ?Reach Higher?. This theme is a contribution from UPH for the nation to give the best and the highest through educations, researches, and community services. This theme is also the highlight of UPH Festival 20 to welcome the new students of UPH that will be held from August 21 to August 24, 2013.
