This statement was delivered by UPH Faculty of Medicine Dean ? Prof. Dr. Dr. dr. Eka J Wahjoepramono SpBS. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Dean?s Talk event. The statement is to remind the audience that many students that take medical degree only for the sake of gaining material wealth. In his opinion, a true doctor can not be rich in the blink of an eye, seeing that the profession of a doctor is to cure people who are ill.
In front of 80-100 audiences of Dean?s Talk, Prof. Eka also explained several criteria of a good quality doctor education. One of the criteria is the percentage of total students who have graduated and a good education infrastructure. At UPH, the percentage of graduated students per year is around 80%. This number shows students? commitment toward their callings in the medicine fields. Moreover, in order to provide a good medicine education, aside from having adequate facilities, connections with hospitals are needed to support the medical theory and practice activities. ?Everything that is built on Siloam complex is for medical sciences, research, faculty of medicine and also the hospitals,? said Prof. Eka, assuring that UPH fulfill the criteria of a good medical education.
To close his Faculty of Medicine explanation, Q&A session is opened where prospective students? parents raised questions about the accreditation impacts toward the quality of medical education at UPH. Prof. Eka many factors influence the accreditation such as facilities, curriculum, lecturers, and others. Currently, UPH Faculty of Medicine has three professors and supported with adequate facilities and curriculum that enable the students to think broadly and in-depth in the medical world as well as making innovations. In accordance to the criteria that are determined by DIKTI, the current grade of accreditation of UPH Faculty of Medicine is B. (ym) |
