Falcon Project 5: The Faculty of Computer Science Biggest Event

Faculty of Computer Science held their annual event, Falcon Project 5, which bring out a tagline ?Simple But Not Simpler?. From age to age technology is more advanced but also more simpler to use, which actually the systems itself are mostly complicated,?

 

Faculty of Computer Science held their annual event, Falcon Project 5, which bring out a tagline ?Simple But Not Simpler?. From age to age technology is more advanced but also more simpler to use, which actually the systems itself are mostly complicated,? explained Yulius, a student of Informatics System 2011, also as the head committee of Falcon Project 5.

 

Besides a seminar with the topic ?Augmented Reality in Gaming? this event also held various activities such as competition for UPH students, and also high school students. Especially for high school students, the competition intention was to improve creativity at computer field as well to be the medium of introducing Faculty of Computer Science UPH to the students that are interested.

These are the competitions and winners that were announced on Falcon Project 5:

 

Cisco Network: computer configuration competition using Packet Tracer which is made by the representative of Cisco Indonesia Company. This competition was followed by 7 team from 4 different high schools. The winners of this Cisco competition are SMA Bonavita (first team) as the first winner, SMA Bonavita (second team) as second winner, and the third winner was placed by SMK Ciputat. Not only involving the high school student, Falcon Project 5 comittees also invited the high school teachers to attended the training program about computer network using Packet Tracer application. This application is giving the teachers ability to teach about computer network. The workshop was followed by more than 30 teachers from 20 different high schools.

 

Construct 2: In the competition, the participants were challenged to create a game based on HTML 5 using Construct 2. It is quite easy to create game with Construct 2 with just drag and drop style using mouse without doing some programming. The theme of the game need to be related with Hypermart, Siloam Hospital, or Matahari Department Store. The participants were given freedom of chose the theme of the game they will create. The competition was followed by FIK UPH students. The first winner is Giogry Gunawan (Computer Technology 2011), Steven Kurniawan as the second winner (Informatics 2012), and the third winner is Clement L Setiabudhi (Informatics System 2011).

 

Worklight Competition: is a competition of creating application with Worklight software. With the requirement of the competition, the participants need to make a multi-platform application using programming languages from IBM and the application need to be related with businesses like Hypermart, Siloam Hospital, and Matahari Department Store. The best application will be contracted by IBM to have the chance to publish the application and to get loyalty from the company that had use the application. This competition won by Stephen Adipranadana (Informatics System 2011).

 

Alice Programming Competition: is a competition of making creative advertising with animation or short story using Alice Programming, a simple form of Java programming. Before the competition, the participants were given training about Alice programming itself. This competition is followed by a team consisted of 2-3 high school students. SMKN 24 East Jakarta was placed to be the first winner, UPH College as the second winner, and SMA Pramita as the third winner.

 

Insta Competition is a competiton where the participants need to take the most interesting photo during the activities of Falcon Project 5 held, and then the photo was published in Instagram. To beautify the photo, the participants were given a chance to use any filters that are available in Instagram. This competition was opened to UPH students. The first winner is Noel. B. Imannuel (Biology 2012), Yunita N (Food Technology 2012) as the second winner, and Diemaz Wilfried Peter (DKV 2012) as the third winner.

 

What makes the event different this year, as closing the Falcon Project 5 they held FIK Awards also to be the peak of the event. This event is a moment to give appreciation to the talented, diligent, and hard working individuals at Faculty of Computer Science. This award was created for students, lecturers, and staffs.
