Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UPH held another Dean’s Talk hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Aleksius Jemadu Ph.D, on February 7, 2015 in STPPH Restaurant. This time, Dean’s Talk introduces the Department of Political Science, which will be opened in the 2015-2016 school year. In contrast to the Department of Political Science at other universities, Department of Political Science at UPH comes with concentration and emphasis on political and business issues. Prof. Aleks expressed his hope that through this course, scholars who can think multidisciplinary can be born, that is, those who understand about politics, as well as business. “The problem of governance today is the lack of attention towards politics and business issues,” he said.

To provide a more in-depth introduction about UPH?s Department of Political Science to the prospective students, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences will host a FISIP High School Summer, which is aimed at the high school students who will soon graduate and who are keen to enter the Department of Political Science. For the Department of Political Science, the event will take place on June 22-23, 2015. In this workshop, “participants will practice directly and will be challenged to think about politics and business issues, as well as the settlement of the problems.” said Mrs. Elfi, S.E, M.M, Director of Administration and Student Affairs at UPH Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

This event was attended by approximately 40 invitees, including parents and prospective students. The students who attended looked interested because they think that a department specific on the field of Business and Political Sciences is very rare. Some of them even said that they intend to choose this Department of Political Science.
