Food Technology Student Association again, held UPH Food Technology Food Explore event with the theme “Call to Act! A little Awareness Prevents Future Anxiety, “which will take place on November 4-6, 2015
The presence of unhealthy lifestyles and the proliferation of less healthy foods that are currently more loved by many people from various background, has caused many problems in society. Answering the need, Food Technology Student Association again, held UPH Food Technology Food Explore event with the theme “Call to Act! A little Awareness Prevents Future Anxiety, “which will take place on November 4-6, 2015.
This annual event of UPH Food Technology department is the eighth time to be held this year. Not much different from previous years, Daniel Sianto, Chairman of the Department of Food Technology Student Association, explained the purpose of the Food Explore still emphasizes the desire to share and develop knowledge in the world of food, with creative and innovative ideas. Food Explore expected to be a means to apply what they have learned in the course to the public directly. But for this year, this destination is equipped with a desire to create food products that are healthier and safer in the future (Food Safety).
Food Explore 8, which is a national scale event, will be present in a variety of series of events consisting of Home Innovations on 4th-6th November 2015, High school competition on 4th to 5th November 2015, and the Undergraduate Paper Competition on 5th November 2015. In a series of events Food Explore 8 is also will be held Scientific Seminar entitled “Food Safety for Human Health” with speaker Adhi S. Lukman, chairman of the Association of Indonesian Food and Beverage (GAPMI), Dr. Ir. Roy A. Sparringa, M. App. Sc., Head of the National Agency of Drug and Food of the Republic of Indonesia (BPOM RI), and Prof. Dr. Ir. John Budi Widianarko, M. Sc., Rector of UNIKA Soegijapranata held on 6th November 2015.
“At this year with the theme of Food Safety, high school students are again back to take part in the Food Explore 8 to participate in competitions such as Food Science Olympiad, Debate Competition and Conditional Innovation,” said Daniel Sianto. Food Science Olympiad will also be followed by Ipeka Integrated Christian High School in Jakarta, Ricci 2 High School in Bintaro, then schools which are located in Tangerang, among others Candle Tree High School, Dian Harapan High School Daan Mogot, BPK Penabur Gading Serpong, UPH College and Lazuardi Global Islamic High School in Depok. Further Debate Competition will be followed by a couple of high school, the Candle Tree high school, UPH College located in Tangerang, the Sang Timur Catholic High School, SMAK 5 Penabur in Jakarta, and Lazuardi Global Islamic High School in Depok. The third race, Conditional Innovation will be followed by a 6 SMAK BPK Penabur, Ipeka Integrated Christian High School, Santa Teresa High School in Jakarta, then UPH College, Tarakanita High School in Tangerang, Regina Pacis High School Bogor, and Lazuardi Global Islamic High School in Depok
In addition to high school students, college students from many Science faculty from various universities in Indonesia also of course be joined in the event by following the Food Explore the Undergraduate Paper Competition, which can be followed by a maximum of 3 students in one team. Competition national level will be followed by Ma Chung University in Malang, University of Widya Mandala In Surabaya, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), University of Atma Jaya Jakarta, Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (I3L) in Jakarta, and the Pelita Harapan University in Tangerang.
