UPH Faculty of Medicine Earn Three Achievement in IMO 2016

Potential human resources were needed in Indonesia?s government during this global crisis, especially in the field of multilateral trading policies.

This year Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan was honored to host Indonesian International Medical Olympiad (IMO) 2016 held on October 12-16, 2016, at Faculty of Medicine UPH Karawaci

UPH Faculty of Medicine Successfully Win The Competition Over Three Branches Held by IMO 2016, Which are The First Place for Tropical Infections, The Second Place for Uroreproduksi, and Third Place for Cardiorespiratory.

 

 

This year Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan was honored to host Indonesian International Medical Olympiad (IMO) 2016 held on October 12-16, 2016, at Faculty of Medicine UPH Karawaci. Besides of hosting the event, UPH Faculty of Medicine also became the winner in three competition branches held by IMO 2016, which were the 1st place for Tropic, the  2nd place for Ureroproduction, and the 3rd place for Cardiorespiracion.

 

IMO itself is a prestigious Olympic event for Indonesian medical student. This competition is a program of Association of Indonesian Medical Student Senate (ISMKI) which has been held annually since 2010. For every year the participant of IMO continued to rise. For this year, IMO was attended by 700 Faculty of Medicine students from Indonesia, Philippines, and Malaysia. This competition was held for five days and presented six branches that were contested. There were four branches which followed by participants within this country, such as Uroreproduksi, Cardiorespiratory, Digestive, and Musculoskeletal. While the other two branches, Neuropsychiatric and Infectious Tropical were contested internationally, so the participants came from within this country and abroad.

 

This competition was divided into Preliminary Stage, Survival Stage, Semifinal, and Final. The selection of the questions competed including Multiple Choice, Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE), Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), Objective Structured Practical Identification (options available), Student Oral Case Analysis and Public Health (SOCA-PH) and Medical Quiz game. Besides competition in Medical field, there were also competitions of posters and students? scientific presentation held in this event.

 

Furthermore,to while away the time, IMO 2016 also presented the symposiums which began with a seminar by Siloam Hospital neurological surgeons: Dr. dr. Sp.BS Julius, that explained about Neural Plasticity and continued with seminars by experts of the other fields on October 13, 2016.

 

Not only that, the delegation was also given a more engaging experience through a Public Lecture which utilizes 3-dimensional cinema format in Cinemaxx presented by Prof. Eka Julianto Wahjoepramono, which was about Neuroscience. This opportunity was recognized to be the most awaited event as the first experience to see the anatomy and the surgical procedure that seemed so realistic.

As the end of IMO 2016, there was a Fun Run Event held in Lippo Karawaci, October 16, 2016. This event was attended by the dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine Dr. Dr. dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono SpBS. and the chairman of Lippo Group Dr. (HC) Mochtar Riady. The Fun Run event was started from Siloam parking lot and around Beverly Golf Park. After finishing the fun run, the entire delegations made a balloon releasing ceremonial as the symbolic that all of the UPH Faculty of Medicine students in continuing to reach their dream as high.

 

The participant who are the delegations of Faculty of Medicine students from variuos places around Indonesia, wear 3D glasses in attending a public lecture at cinemaxx, Lippo Village, Karawaci.

.

All of the delegations of faculty of medicine students did the releasing ballons ceremonial as the symbol for students of the faculty of medicine to continue pursuing their dreams.
