UPH Festival 24: Socialization of UPH Scholarships for Parents and Prospective Students

On August 19th, the 4th day of UPH Festival 24, Scholarship Day was held to socialize the various scholarship programs offered by UPH. The purpose of this event is to help parents and 12th graders who will continue their studies to the university through the scholarship path.

The event started with the opening of ?Tari Ginjring Party’ and ?Yamko Rambe Yamko’ from Nusantara Dance Company as well as the performance from Belys, homeband Conservatory of Music.

Entering the main session, scholarship presentation was presented by Ir. Budhi T. Yuwono, Senior Assistant Rector of UPH who explained various scholarships given by UPH and the purpose of a scholarship program.

Budhi states that UPH wants nation’s young generation to get the same opportunity expanding talent and gifts that God has given through a great education. Since UPH as a university which has a vision transforming students into future leaders with a divine character so as to bring a positive impact to the wider society.

Therefore, UPH provides three categories of scholarships; such as Academic Achievement, Limited Finance, and Sports Achievement.

For the amount, there are 4 categories, consisted of; Platinum (100%), Gold (75%), Silver (50%) and Bronze (25%). The requirements of each category vary from each faculty.

In addition to the requirements of the grades, the scholarship candidate should make 500 words of an essay with the topic of why choosing UPH and their chosen majors. This essay becomes one of the final decision points.

To give more views about UPH study experience, this event presents scholarship recipients to share testimonials, Jeremy Emmanuel (Chairman of BEM 2017) and Michelle Utomo (Top 20 Ambassadors of UPH 2017).

In his testimony, Jeremy recounts his experience in student board organizations. “I am pleased with UPH, because here there are various kinds of campus activities. From student activity units to student organizations. Students should be a pro-active in various activities on campus because we can get a lot of friends and get the opportunity to network “, he said.

Furthermore Michelle Utomo, the other scholarship recipients stated that the things she admired from UPH are the facilities and the campus environment. “Facilities at UPH are very good and complete. UPH provides excellent facilities for students, from gym, pool to soccer field. This university also provides a dormitory which suitable for students from out of town, such as me.” 

The series of events held in scholarship day is used to provide an overview of how the lectures in UPH for parents and prospective scholarship recipients.

After the event, parents can have a consultation further about the scholarship program through Student Consultants located at D502. As for prospective students who want to apply directly, UPH provides the special program which is free entry form registration, valid on scholarship day.

The enthusiasm of the seminar participants was greatly felt. After the event which was attended by 400 people was completed, most of the participants remained and formed a long queue. They are queuing to have a consultation and also to apply for each program.
