UPH Faculty of Law Holds Dr. Mochtar Riady Legal Fair 2018

UPH Faculty of Law Student Council (SMFH UPH) holds the fourth ?Dr. Mochtar Riady Legal Fair 2018? on 23-25th of May 2018, at UPH Lippo Village Karawaci campus. This event is organized in a series of activities ? seminars, competition, and an expo.

Dr. Mochtar Riady Legal Fair (DMRLF) is conducted every two years to appreciate Dr. (HC) Mochtar Riady, the man who initiated the UPH Faculty of Law. This year, DMRLF holds the theme ?Mendorong Ekonomi Kreatif Sebagai Kekuatan Baru Perekonomian Nasional? (Encouraging Creative Economy as a New Force in National Economy). This theme is chosen because the creative economy is becoming more important in today?s economy scene.

11 delegates from an array of universities in Indonesia attended this event. On the first day, delegates attend an enrichment by a National Banking Hero, Dr. (HC) Mochtar Riady and Muhammad Fauzi, SH MH ? Head of the sub-directorate facilitating Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (HKI). This enrichment is necessary not only to give insight to the audience but also to motivate students to increase creativity in developing businesses and the importance of Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (HKI) (Intellectual Property) in running a business.

All competitions held afterward refer to this enrichment. According to Rafael Jonathan Arvy Siregar ? Head of event and Faculty of Law 2015 student, the goal of the national law debate competition is to encourage students? critical thinking and to look for argumentative thoughts, ideas, and solutions regarding the economy, especially the creative economy sector. The winner of this competition will win the Dr. Mochtar Riady trophy rotated through winners every two years. On the 2016 DMRLF, UIN Syarif Hidayahtullah Faculty of Law took home the trophy. This competition will be held in two days, May 24th and 25th, 2018, and one winner, who will claim the trophy, will be chosen.

This competition is joined by 11 teams consisting of 3 people. Alongside the competition, there are legal companies? stands ? Mawar Saron, Makes and Partners, LBH Jakarta, 36 Sovereign Chambers, and AZP Legal Consultant.

These legal companies came to bridge the gap between student and companies so that they can directly ask questions and apply to the companies partnering with the event.
