Healthy Science Meet and Greet Invites Prospective Students to learn about the uniqueness of UPH Faculty of Medicine.

Modesty, Companionship, and Togetherness or the 3K (in Bahasa) are the characters that should be owned by a doctor. The 3K is manifested based on the Indonesian Act No. 20 in 2013, with the aim of creating noble-minded, dignified, qualified, and competent doctors. This goes in line with doctor as a profession that is directly related to health, and even someone’s life.

In order to produce doctors with character and quality, adequate and qualified educational facilities are needed. One of the best options is the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) which offers unique advantages as well as excellence.

In order to get more people to know about this uniqueness, the Marketing and Admission Department of UPH held the Healthy Science Meet and Greet on September 27, 2019 in the Faculty of Medicine building of UPH, Lippo Village. This event was attended by High School students and their parents who are interested to know more about the Faculty of Medicine of UPH through a consultation session with lecturers and alumni.

Dr. dr Allen Widysanto, Sp.P – Vice Dean of Student Affairs, talked about the uniqueness of UPH Faculty of Medicine. She also explained that unlike other Faculty of Medicine, UPH Faculty of Medicine does not stand alone. It is supported by several elements that work together as one.

“UPH Faculty of Medicine does not stand alone, we are a part of an institution called the Medical Science Group which consisted of nursing, MRIN, Siloam Hospitals, and the Faculty of Medicine itself. This facilitates the students of UPH Faculty of Medicine as they undergo their studies, because everything they need are provided in the same,” said dr. Allen.

Dr. Allen also added that UPH Faculty of Medicine is equipped with up-to-date technologies and facilities which follows the development of the medical world. There are big class, small class, library, teaching hospital, histology laboratory, anatomy laboratory, cadaver, plastination, ad clinical skill anatomy. These facilities are meant to support the activities that the students are required to do during their studies.

Aside from equipping students academically, UPH Faculty of Medicine realized that non-academic activities are also important in order to ensure students’ balanced life. This was stated by dr. Andree Kurniawan, Sp. PD. – Vice Dean of Student Affairs, UPH Faculty of Medicine.

“Aside from studying, our students are really active when participating in students activities. They have even held a theatrical performance. In addition to that, they also participated in other events held by their fellow students. This shows that aside from academics, our students also actively involved in organizational activities. This is important for them, because they will be able to train their soft skills,” dr. Andree explained.

The alumni were also present to share their experience when they studied in UPH Faculty of Medicine. dr. Olivia and dr. Wilson (2013) said that going to the Faculty of Medicine is not an impossible thing. When someone has the goal set in their mind and the discipline, they will be able to go through it. In addition to that, the alumni also shared their impressions about the faculty during their college times.
“The lecturers here have really guided and helped us during out times studying here. The fact that we are able to get through all of this was also because of their support, and also, our friends and families,” said Dr. Olivia and Dr. Wilson.

Interestingly, until the 15th of October this year, a direct admission path is opened especially for UPH Faculty of Medicine. With the direct admission, prospective students would not have to do the entrance exam. They will only have to fulfill all the required documents. Aside from direct admission, the scholarship path is also available with a 10-50% amount of discount.
