Dr. Stefanie Hartanto: Contributing to UPH and Making Impact through Notary Profession.

“Dreams and passion are something that must be pursued wholeheartedly. Dreams serve as guiding goals that lead us toward a clear direction. Without dreams, we would be adrift without a clear sense of purpose and direction,” stated Dr. Stefanie Hartanto, S.H., M.Kn., an alumna of UPH’s Bachelor of Law program, class of 2003, and UPH’s Doctor of Law program, class of 2015. She now works as a Notary and Land Deed Official (Pejabat Pembuat Akta Tanah/PPAT) in Tangerang.

As an alumna, Dr. Stefanie believes that UPH encourages every student not only to focus on theory but also to apply it in practice as a professional. For her, this approach is highly valuable in preparing a generation that is ready to enter the workforce. During her time at UPH, she not only gained academic knowledge and good character but also built strong relationships.

Her commitment to build relationships is reflected through her role as the Chairperson of the UPH Alumni Association (IKA) for the 2023-2028 term. During her study, she observes how UPH teaches students to organize and cultivate self-confidence. These factors inspired Dr. Stefanie to contribute back to her beloved alma mater, especially in building the alumni community.

“Being part of the IKA leadership team is something I never imagined. I see this as a calling to serve my fellow UPH alumni, and the future generations to come. It’s not about positions, titles, or prestige, but rather about answering the call to serve and build a community that grows together while upholding UPH’s core values and mission,” expressed Dr. Stefanie.

Several main work programs have been designed by the UPH Alumni Association (IKA UPH), including creating a database platform that serves as a means for UPH alumni to connect; organizing weekly activities such as sports, culinary events, and business gatherings; holding monthly events such as seminars, workshops, training sessions, mentoring, charity events, and blood donation drives; as well as hosting annual events in collaboration with UPH activities, such as UPH Festival, Career Expo, Scholarship Opportunities, and joint events between alumni and UPH student representatives through the Student Leader Gathering.

IKA UPH management team for the 2023-2028 term comes from nine faculties, namely Science and Technology, Education, Medicine, Nursing, Computer Science, Economics and Business, Law, Social and Political Sciences, and Tourism. IKA UPH management is divided into several departments. Firstly, the internal relations department aims to strengthen solidarity, cooperation, and empowerment among alumni. Secondly, the business relations department forms the UPH Business Club as a platform for UPH alumni to collaborate with alumni from other universities.

Next, the third department focuses on law and organization, which will collaborate with the Study Program Alumni Association (IKA Prodi) and UPH student organizations. Fourthly, the external relations department is responsible for fostering collaborations with government agencies, institutions, and other university alumni associations. Currently, this department is exploring a partnership with the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag). Lastly, the education department is focusing on serving the community through training, webinars, seminars, workshops, acting as guest lecturers, and collaborating with UPH research teams.

“As the UPH Alumni Association, we are committed to continuously promoting and maintaining a healthy community, ensuring that the bond among alumni remains strong,” she said.

Not only contributing to her alma mater, Dr. Stefanie also aims to make a greater impact through her profession as a notary and land deed official. Since childhood, she has aspired to have a career in the legal field. In pursuing this dream, Dr. Stefanie realized the importance of an environment that can shape individuals to be prepared for the future. This is why she chose UPH as the place to prepare herself to be a competent and professional individual.

“A notary and land deed official hold crucial responsibilities in drafting legal documents for company establishment and land ownership-related deeds. These responsibilities not only contribute to the country’s economic progress but also allow me to provide essential services to the community in the field of land matters. That’s why I chose a career as a Notary and PPAT,” confidently stated Dr. Stefanie.

She believes that apart from integrity and a strong understanding, the profession also requires thorough preparation. This led Dr. Stefanie to equip herself from a young age, eventually obtaining a Doctor of Law degree at the age of 32 from UPH.

Furthermore, she advises always to set definite steps in life’s journey. Dreams, careers, and how one lives should genuinely have an impact on others.

“When we dream, let’s not just focus on personal gain but also on how we can contribute to those around us. This is the essence of service. True happiness is achieved when our dreams come true and positively impact others. Dr. Stefanie emphasized the importance of sincerity in all our endeavors, allowing others to witness the radiance of our lives,” she added.
