Greentech Asia Sejahtera as a VAP distributor was strengthened by the existence of an MOU to support learning in the field of lighting which was conducted on October 28, 2019 at UPH Lippo Village Campus. The scope of this MOU includes general lectures, workshops, certifications for students and even lecturers who are interested in conducting research and projects in the field of lighting, smart buildings, green architecture, and sustainability topics. Welcoming this, the Dean of SoD, Dr. Martin Luqman Katoppo, S.T., M.T., stated that this collaboration was a manifestation of the commitment of both parties in providing good, comprehensive education and direct experience-based research.

“This collaboration also shows the best academic-industry relations in each of its fields. So there is a good synergy between the two to produce the best designers in their fields, especially in the fields of design and lighting,” explained Martin.

With the collaboration of UPH and Signify Indonesia, Martin sees this as a form of various manifestations of UPH’s SoD commitment in carrying out the study process.

“This Lighting Lab is an initial form of exploration of potential possibilities that can be produced as an embodiment of Tridharma, including the best teaching, research and community service that has an impact, while also being able to open opportunities to increase the possibility of professional cooperation in the field of design and other lighting,” Martin added.

Furthermore, Julia Tan, UPH Executive Dean of UPH emphasized that this partnership is not only to support the curriculum in the design and Architecture study program, but also to cover other related study programs such as Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, to support new era lighting research.

“Lighting is no longer a functional or aesthetic element in an indoor or outdoor space. It is used to analyse space utilization and it has smart features to detect physical presence, in order to achieve efficiency. It can also supply connectivity and be connected to our smart devices to manage lighting in full customizable capability. Through this partnership, we can encourage innovation through the use of lighting, and we can bring impact to Indonesia and the world with our solutions,” said Julia.

So far, UPH Architecture has also collaborated with several Industrial partners such as Samco Timbre, Habitat for Humanity, Nippon Paint, and several other industries. In the future, UPH SoD will certainly continue to work together with other industrial partners to support the teaching and learning process at UPH.
