Joehannes Oentoro Library’s Thousands of Accessible Online Literature.

Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) has enacted the online learning and Work from Home (WFH) policy for all lecturers and staff. All units and services are going to be accessible online and one of them is the Joehannes Oentoro Library of UPH (JOL). All of the library’s services will be accessible online starting from March 30, 2020. In order to ensure students’ and lecturer’s need for literature, JOL has thousands of literary collections that can easily be accessed to assist and ensure the online learning process.

The Manager of UPH Joehannes Oentoro Library, Dhama Gustia Baskoro, said that students and lecturers will only have to click on library.uph.edu and they will easily find all the literature they might need.

“For new users, we provide tutorial videos that can be accessed through http://bit.ly/akseskoleksi. These videos will help all users to access UPH online library, guide them to do online researches and many other information. A variety of articles and e-books for every subject can also be easily found in library.upd.edu,” Dhama explained.

Dhama also adds that aside from accessing library.uph.edu, all books in the library can still be accessed through the web catalog in https://search.follettsoftware.com/metasearch/ui/76878. Though it is accessible for the public, the complete collection of the library can only be fully accessed by the students and lecturers of UPH who has an account in the Follet software used by JOL.

“To ensure that our collection is always complete and updated, Joehannes Oentoro Library UPH has subscribed to a number of digital library services such as Ebsco (6.000 e-journals for all subjects), Business Source Premier (1100 e-journals in management and finance), ATLA (350 e-journals in theology), Ebsco E-book (170.000 e-books for all subjects), AccessMedicine (200 e-books in medicine), Westlaw (law database, cases, and reviews), J-Stor (3.500 e-journals in arts, business, tourism, and social studies), and Emerald (e-journals in tourism and business). Moreover, we also provide other open-access including the National Library (http://e-resources.perpusnas.go.id/), Portal Garuda Ristekbrin (DIKTI) (http://garuda.ristekbrin.go.id/) and many more. Basically, we want to ensure that students and lecturers can access all these resources online,” Dhama stated.

The plenitude of literature sources in UPH online library was confirmed by the students, one of them is Brayent Vivaldi Filemona (International Relations 2019), who admitted that the collections in Library.uph.edu are really useful for her studies, especially during this online learning period.

“During the online learning period, I accessed JOL’s website a lot of times. Their book collection really helps me a lot. In the UPH library website, there are thousands of reading materials that can help me in writing my papers and my undergraduate thesis. Personally, these collections are very sufficient for me. Moreover, the access to JOL is very simple,” said Brayent.

In order to optimize the service, JOL will still provide regular book lending service for those who needed it in addition to the online access.

“For those who need to borrow the books physically, we will have a JOL staff to help students with the procedures. We will deliver the book in a determined campus area to be taken by students. For this service, students will have to send, and e-mail to us in library@uph.edu or contact us through Whatsapp in 0813 8719 2441.”

With the simplicity that the system offers, Dhama hopes that JOL UPH can provide the best services for students and lecturers, so they can access a variety of literature collection from home to ensure that this online learning period is going well.
