UPH Medan Campus Builds Humanist Side in Online Learning During Covid-19.

Starting mid-March 2020, online learning has been effectively implemented at UPH Medan Campus. The shift started with the technique socialization as well as online media learning system training of multiple online learning applications including ZOOM, Microsoft Teams, and UPH Learning Management System Moodle. This is done to help both lecturers and students alike in order to carry out both synchronous and asynchronous online teaching effectively. In the future, all online lectures at UPH Medan is ensured to run smoothly as it gains enthusiasm amongst students.

To maintain motivation and enthusiasm for students during their online learning, UPH Medan’s Student Life department runs multiple activities intended to build bonds between student to student and communication between lecturers to students. Daily vlogging competition is one of the many efforts to inspire others during the Covid-19 situation. The competition is hoped to encourage students to be creative, productive, and socialize during their self-isolation period.

UPH Medan’s Student Life team further promotes the effort by posting videos from lecturers and staff on Instagram. This is done to encourage and attention to help students feel comfortable towards their campus, as a famous Indonesian saying goes, “jauh di mata, dekat di hati”.

The humanist side of online learning is further enhanced through fundraising for medical workers. The fund will later be distributed to several hospitals throughout Medan, facilitated by UPH Medan’s Student Executive Board, beginning on March 28th, 2020.

Parallel to online studies, preventive measures are continuously done at UPH Medan. Body temperature measurement for everyone before being admitted to the campus area, hand sanitizer providence, cleaning efforts to increase hygiene throughout all campus premises, and periodic disinfectant spraying throughout Lippo Plaza Medan Campus area, as well as Aryaduta Medan Campus, are some of the efforts
