UPH Organized Soft Skill Education Training for Ambon?s Government

Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) is cooperating with Ambon?s government in organizing soft skill education training.

Monday, February 6th 2008, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) is cooperating with Ambon?s government in organizing soft skill education training. This training includes 43 participants consisting of level two and three echelon officers of Ambon?s government.

Rector of Universitas Pelita Harapan, Jonathan L. Parapak warmly greeted the attendance of The Major of Ambon, M. J. Papilaja, and all of the 43 participants. In his greetings, he reinforced UPH?s desire of sharing knowledge with the participants. As an international standard global campus, UPH is not only interlacing cooperation with abroad universities, but also with academicians, practitioners, professionals, and government institutions.
The Major of Ambon, M. J. Papilaja, who also greeted the training participants, pointed out the importance of this training. According to him, this training is a part of the process of creating a professional government bureaucracy which plays the role as one of the most important elements to direct the Republic of Indonesia. ?In order to push forward the professional bureaucracy, this education is very important,? he stated.

Also in his greetings, M. J. Papilaja pointed out that UPH is chosen as the right place to held this training and competent to fulfill the needs of the training participants, especially in service management area. He also hoped that this training would be able to change the participants paradigm, so that they would serve the community better.

The Senior Mentor of UPH Business School, Adrianus Mooy, also pointed out the university?s purpose for this training. ?UPH is willing to help increasing the bureaucracy professionalism especially in the government area,? he stated. He also mentioned that in the training there would be programs which would relate to the areas of management, leadership, and governance.

The program would be held for one week and the 43 participants would attend various types of coaching such as critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, teamwork, strategy planning, leadership, and public service excellent. All activities would be held in UPH campus at Karawaci and outbound location of Imperial Aryaduta Hotel. In the training, UPH is also working side by side with some professional training organizations.

This education program is held as a continuance of the cooperation that had been interlaced before between UPH and the Province of Maluku since 2006. They cooperated in the area of development of human resources in Maluku, particularly for the educational, medical, government and professional personnel to attend educational level of graduate and post graduate. This cooperation was organized for the purpose of developing and increasing the competence of human resources in Maluku, especially for high school students, the teachers, medical personnel, and the professionals in the Province of Maluku.
