Representative of KADIN, Handito Joewono correlate the global crisis with our government?s strategy of giving stimulus to entrepreneurs and the society.
He asserted that the stimulus would be more effective if it were allocated to the education world. ?The stimulus would work better if allocated for learning, such as developing some courses, to enhance the society?s learning ability,? he stated.
This was said during the seminar entitled Unconventional Strategy under Uncertainty and Innovation for Sustainable Competitive Advantage held by UPH Business School which cooperated with The Permanent Committee on Education Training and Apprenticeship of KADIN Indonesia on Thursday (23/04).
Handito stated that the significant allocation of the stimulus for education would greatly affect our society?s development in the future. Therefore, KADIN formed the committee to provide facilities for internships, training, and education for the Indonesian students. One of the programs established is to cooperate with schools and universities in Indonesia in training and educating their students. UPH is the first university which cooperates with the committee, proven by this public seminar.
On the seminar, Unconventional Strategy under Uncertainty, the Dean of UPH Business School Roy Sembel said, ?Don?t be overcommitted to a certain thing in this uncertain situation. That will result in danger.? He quoted one economy expert Joseph Schumpeter, saying that competitions are not to be looked at based on visible things, but rather based on invisible things and the future.
Therefore, said Roy, unconventional innovative ideas are needed in order to stay on top of the competition, as well as these three things: create, operate, and trade. Create is when we build strategies, operate is when we apply the strategies, and trade or destroy is when we defeat the other competitions.
Meanwhile, Handito added that the innovative ideas should also be focused on seven strategies he recommended, which are great perception, quality product, innovative product, consumer engagement, massive distribution, competitive price, strive sales person, and one additional strategy: consumer insight. ?Consumer insight is a standard obligation which should be fulfilled,? he stated.
