The form of this cooperation will include Double Degree program for Magister program at Management.
In this beginning of 2009, University of Pelita Harapan has started an innovation at its academic. On last January 8, UPH Business School and International Hotel Management Institute (IMII) – Switzerland were signing MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) as cooperation sign that was done by Heinz Burki (President of International Hotel Management Institute) and Roy Sambel, Dean of UPH-Business School. “If we are waking in the field tourism, a global perspective is extremely important and good idea. And international dimension becomes extremely important for us and Indonesia’s education system.” explained Heiz.
Along with the purpose of UPH to become a Global Campus, this collaboration will be very useful. The form of this cooperation will include Double Degree program for Magister program at Management. “The graduates will get two academic titles, Magister Management (MM) from UPH and MBA (Master of Business Administration) from IMII – Switzerland. It of course will give the bright future for the graduates, especially to work abroad,” Roy said.
The collaboration program between those two universities will be held in the new academic year, 2009-2010, by give choice to MM program to take Dual Degree MBA program from IMII-Switzerland. For students who comply with the request and selection will study 3 semesters at UPH and one semester at IMII – Switzerland.
UPH choose to work together with IMII-Switzerland because this Institute has power in hotel management and tourism area that had recognized internationally. Besides that, it will help the graduates to enlarge their career in international area and from such effort, all of us hope that Indonesia will have qualified human resources.
This collaboration program helps Indonesian people who want to study abroad with reachable costs, particularly for the cost of education and life, because most of education will be spent in Indonesia. Compare with cost of 2 years study abroad, this program is clearly helping. Especially, consider global crisis that attack world violently nowadays.
“This program has bright prospect and deeply support Indonesian students. Hopefully Indonesia not only accept foreigner to run a business here but also to produce competent people as well”, Said Roy by the end of the conversation.
