Indonesian Record Museum (Museum Rekor Indonesia - MURI) granted two awards for DR. Dr. Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono, SpBs, Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine, in Karawaci (12/03).

Indonesian Record Museum (Museum Rekor Indonesia – MURI) granted two awards for DR. Dr. Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono, SpBs, Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine, in Karawaci (12/03). One award was given for his dedication as the first doctor in Asia to perform a tumor removal surgery in the brain stem in 2001. Brain stem is a center of all activities because it connects human?s mind and activities. “Even though our facilities are exactly the same with other countries?, our work must not be below of those from outside,” said Dr. Eka when receiving the award. At present, Dr. Eka is the first doctor from Indonesia who has given a medical lecture (neurosurgical) at Harvard Medical School. In addition to that, Dr. Eka received another award for the extravaganza show ?Medicabaret? (2008) which presented the art work of songs, dance, and drama in the world of medicine. Medicabaret was a charity program for those with brain diseases, initiated by 400 medical doctors, students, nurses from UPH Faculty of Medical and Siloam Hospitals. Those MURI awards were given in “Otak Pusaka, a Tribute to DR.Dr.Eka? (Heritage Brain, a tribute to DR. Dr. Eka) concert, initiated by Jaya Suprana School of Performing Arts. Also performing at the concert: Tiga Dewi Muri, Pentaboyz, and Michael Anthony. (sar/cyn)
