STPPH Hotel Festival 2010: Bartending Competition ? A number of colleges followed STPPH Bartending Competition in FOODISTA (Food and Drink Fiesta) 2010 event series. The juries are consisting of Aditya Nanda (Flair Trainer Jakarta Bartender Club), Vasco Adanto Goeltom (STPPH lecturer) and Indra Kusumawardaha (Lecturer & Program Coordinator at STP Binus). Assessment criteria consist of taste (0-20), presentation (0-40), performance (0-20), and cleanliness (0-20). “This is a bartending competition, not a flair competition. So the end result is a new drink. For example we make Pinacollada, the result must be perfect, should not be less and should not be over, except his own creations. If this is a flair competition, the juggling and performance can be augmented,” said Aditya Nanda when commenting on the appearance of the participants. Included in the flair is juggling, flipping (bottles, shakers), manipulating flaming Liquors or even performing close-up magic tricks (also referred to peace “bar-magic”). Participants came from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Sahid, Jakarta International Hotel, Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Trisakti, Trisakti Bartender Club, Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Pelita Harapan, and UNTAG
The first and second winners are participants of STP Trisakti, represented by Taufik and Stevanus. While the third winner was Ho Liong Fung of STPPH. According to Vasco, the most notable thing of Taufik is his ability in the presentation. “He is communicative and not nervous. The winners seemed pretty experienced,” he explained. He also hopes this competition can be increased up to the national level, therefore it is necessary to networking with various stakeholders. (sar)
