Monday (12/04) ? Located in building D502 Universitas Pelita Harapan Campus, “I congratulate the Faculty of Law, especially the Senate committee for organizing such a national event. This kind of debate competition is very useful in order to train our reasoning, especially in intellectually defending our own arguments and breaking other people?s arguments. Congratulations also to UPH debate team who had recently won a debate competition at Universitas Padjadjaran,” said Parapak in his speech. |
He also told the participants that in the college years he used to win debate competitions. “I don?t mean to show off, but I hope my experience would encourage and motivate all of you here. I’m sure you will all be good professionals who play roles at the national level, hence you would be able to solve the problems of our country,” he added.
Fifteen universities from our country participated in this debate competition. “UPH did not send its team in order to maintain the assessment?s objectivity. We’re only acting as the organizers,” said the committee chairwoman, Meigy Citra Oetomo. Participants were namely: Universitas Padjajaran ? In addition to broaden the students? knowledge related to legal issues as debate topics, LDHN 2010 was also intended to improve the relationships among Law Faculties in Indonesia. “We hope this event would give positive impacts to the country,” said Meigy. |

After the opening ceremony, participants took lotteries for their debate topics. Monday was the qualification round, and Tuesday was the final round, the announcement of LDHN 2010 winner, and followed by a closing ceremony. (cyn)
