The Indonesian government is in favor for the implementation of sports law which is transnational (Lex Sportiva). This is because all sports have game rules that can not be interfered by national or international laws. This case as reported by Investor Daily on September 23, 2010. ?Lex Sportiva has been implemented very firmly in many countries, especially in soccer, because soccer has gone global and borderless,? said the State Minister of Youth and Sports ? Andi Alfian Mallarangeng ? when being a keynote speaker in the Lex Sportiva International Conference at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Karawaci, Tangerang, Wednesday (22/9). The Minister said that, with the implementation of Lex Sportiva, the sports law standard will be the same with that of the international one. He said, all this time Indonesian sports law has been weak and it is not benefiting the athletes and sports organizations. Sports law borderlines also apply for the countries. In some cases countries might interfere sports events, but in some cases they can?t do that, he’s added. ?When there are intentions to screw up the competitions ? bribery, crime ? countries have the power to interfere. However, countries are not allowed to interfere with the games, or for example, changing the size of soccer?s net, or even the game rules, ? said the Minister in front of participants who were sports law practitioners and academists from different countries. |
