Experience the Revolution As many as 19 new kinds of food were exposed in the Food Explore program on November 24-26, 2010. The highlight of this program was in the middle Building D Plaza ? a tent consisted of special food innovations created by Food Tech students. Each visitor was warmly welcomed and asked to taste all food exhibits. Some food being exhibited was also ready in packages and can be bought with low prices. There were supposed to be 21 kinds of food ready, but due to lack of ingredients, students of Food Tech were only able to prepare 19 kinds. The food being created was the new kinds that have never been marketed before. It is in the form of fast food that focused on the uniqueness of taste from the ingredients. Taste is not the only thing being prioritized, but also the vitamin and protein in the food, as well as the special appearance that lured people to try it. Those 19 kinds of new innovative food were such as: Frozen Kefir in the form of ice cream, made from milk but contained kefir to add more nutrition. There was also Beet Bread Jam and Bread, in which the main ingredient was beet to prevent cancer and contained indicaxathin to prevent the breaking of vitamin E in human body. S?Pina Jam had pineapple flavor plus vitamin C, but actually the main ingredient was spinach ? very rich in zinc. Banana Peel Drink sounded strange for sure ? it was really made from banana peels which contained carbohydrate, antioxidant, and potassium which were all good for our body. Considering food with lots of vitamin and competitive price, students made Fish Ball ? made of tilapia fish from freshwater, known to have good quality and lower price. Most probably Crunchy Rice Bar would stick in any woman?s mouth who was dieting, because this innovative product came in the form of sweet foodbar of rice crispy, nuts, raisins and flakes filled with nutrition ? carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin, mineral, and fiber. Still curious with all those innovative products? The result of these innovations have not yet been published or marketed by students due to difficult patent rights to earn. Besides innovative food exhibition, there were also competitions for groups of students from various universities and high schools. There were also special performances in the form of music and dances, and not to forget various bazaar. (oas/ros) UPH Media Relations |
