UPH CARE TO REFUGEES MERAPI

To help those who were having difficulty, UPH held a fundraiser for the eruption of Mount Merapi refugees.

The eruption of Mount Merapi, which was occurred last month, making the surrounding community had difficulties and has to evacuate to the safe areas, including Sleman and Yogyakarta.

To help those who were having difficulty, UPH Spiritual Growth Department in cooperation with the Department of Research and Community Service (LPPM), held a fundraiser for the eruption of Mount Merapi refugees. The money raised bought food, clothes, school supplies, and other items needed.
 
The donation directly submitted to the refugee camp Seminari Tinggi ST Paulus Jogjakarta, at Kaliurang KM 7, which accommodates 900 people consisting of: Toddlers 51, 105 Children, Elderly 98, Others are teenagers and adults.

Allocation made on November 19, 2010 to the Village Sawangan, District Muntilan, precisely in Sekethi village (19 KM from Mount Merapi), and received directly by the village head, Mr. Tatak.

They conveyed a sense of thankfulness and gratitude for the UPH?s assistance, because the village was in desperate need of food aid, livestock and garden owned by residents had been broken and buried in dust. While aid from the government and other parties were very limited and less touched down to their village. (Idris)
