Responsive, relevant, and reliable are three points campaigned by the elected head of Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa-BEM (Executive Students Body) 2011-2012, Anita Karina Sungkono. This UPH Law student from batch 2008 has successfully managed to beat two other candidates, Aditya D. Satyadi (Communications 2009) and Chrystian R. M. Pohan (Psychology 2008), with 1.144 votes (52%) of total 2.175 voters.
The election was held on April 11-19, 2011 and the result was announced on April 25, 2011. Head of BEM was directly voted by all UPH students and has the prerogative to choose members of the cabinet.
Now, the elected Head of BEM is still in process of composing the members of the cabinet and will officially announce the cabinet at the same time as the end of work period of the former BEM in August 2011. The cabinet will serve for one term of service (two semesters).
According to Melati, from the Komisi Pemilihan Umum-KPU (General Election Commission) BEM-UPH, to become head of BEM is not easy. “Some of the terms and conditions are: to receive and willing to apply the values of Christian faith in campus based on the UPH?s vision, have taken 80 credits with GPA ? 3.00, possess well-behaved and never have penalty academically and non-academically, have followed The Campus Orientation and Introduction Program, and had experience in student activities organized by the department/faculty or university, “said Melati.
BEM-UPH has five departments, namely the Department of Organizational and Student Development, Department of Internal Relations, External Relations Department, Department of Insights and Reasoning, and Community Services Department. (pty)
