UPH Rector Accepts ?The Great Educator? Award

The Rector of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. accepted ?The Great Educator? award at The Greatest Innovation Award ceremony held at Hotel Atlet Century Park, Jakarta, on Thursday, July 21, 2011. This event was sponsored by the Indonesia Global Foundation (IGF) and organized by the Gutten Heartz Magazine (GHZ).

The Greatest Innovation Award recognizes educators, entrepreneurs, and professionals who have made great contributions in terms of ideas and innovation to improve the quality of Indonesia?s human resources. ?The judging process began early in 2011. We were supported by several ministries, organizations, and institutions. The judging criteria included the loyalty, dedication, and performance of each individual as well as the institution which they represent,? said Nurie Haz, GHS Public Relations. After a rigorous selection process, 18 individuals out of 50 nominees were selected to receive the awards.

In his speech, UPH Rector Dr. Parapak voiced his gratitude for the award honor. ?Indonesians should not be defeated by anyone in this world,? he stated. ?Therefore, one of my dreams is to offer Indonesia?s children the opportunity to study well.? He also explained how education could be one of the best ways to improve the country. At UPH, students experience a holistic education.  ?It is hoped that through holistic education, graduates with noble character will emerge and positively influence society,? Dr. Parapak explained.
