Nowadays, many women have become the leaders of companies, organizations or government. However, female leaders often face many challenges at work and conservative mindset saying that men are better leaders. As a President Director of PT Pertamina, Ir. G. Karen Agustiawan shared some tips and her experiences as a female leader to the new students of Faculty of Political and Science from Universitas Pelita Harapan on Friday, August 05, 2011. As the first woman who becomes the President Director of PT Pertamina, Karen Agustiawan admitted that she faces many challenges from her colleagues as well as her tasks where she has to solve problems. The challenges did not stop her. She tried to be tough and tried to change the conservative mindset. As a result, PT Pertamina successfully struggled from various problems such as the lack of oil happened some time ago. Karen Agustiawan gave the new students, especially women, advice to pursue their education because knowledge can make people more independent. Karen Agustiawan also encouraged the new students to have entrepreneurial spirit because a person who has entrepreneurial spirit can help they surrounding to live and have a prosper life.(cm) UPH Media Relations |
