Friday, September 9, 2011 at about 11:30 pm, UPH basketball court crowded with students and Japanese tourists witnessed the cultural exchange events between Indonesia and Japan. The event titled “Indo Japan Cultural Exchange” was organized by NihonUtopia, the Japan community under UPH Art Department in collaboration with the Asia Pacific University (APU) -Japan. UPH had a chance to become one of the hosts in the 4th season of The Geisho Across Asia in Indonesia, beside UI and Canisius High School.
In order to introduce Japanese culture to the world community, APU featured several traditional Japanese dances like Aruma Chiyo, Mai Raku, and Wadaiko Raku. “Until now, some people only knows Japan through comics, manga, cartoons and songs, even though Japan has many traditional dances are also not less interesting,” said the MC. Beside performed traditional Japanese dance, Geisho Japan Club together with the Japanese community in Indonesia, especially in UPH, also featured Lenggang Nyai dance from Betawi and Saman dance from Aceh. In the Exchange session, the audience who came to this event got the opportunity to learn the dances or to play traditional Japanese musical instruments that recently shown. (bs) |
