Teachers discussed about a social phenomenon happening recently. One of the teachers doing a presentation after the group discussion.

On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) held a seminar dedicated to high school teachers who teach sociology subject at UPH Graduate Campus, Plaza Semanggi. Started at 1.30 p.m., the two-hour seminar was attended by 14 teachers coming from various high schools in Jakarta and Tangerang.

Speaker Rizaldi Parani, S.Sos., M.I.R., who is also a lecturer from UPH Communication Department, explained about the steps done in investigating a social phenomenon. These steps were explained in a way that teachers can apply it to their teaching methods to high school students. Thus, students are introduced to current issues happening around them. The seminar was ended with group discussion and presentation from each group.

?This seminar really enriched my knowledge, especially on sociology,? said one of the participants, Ani, Pahoa High School teacher. She also mentioned that more people should join this seminar as it helped the teachers a lot. ?I hope UPH will organize more seminars about sociology in the future,? she added. (dee)
