On Sunday, February 12, 2012, UPH Interior Design Student Body held a seminar themed Recycling Culture inviting design experts Yori Antar, Ibam Arafi, Kuntara Wiradinata, and Martin Katoppo. The seminar was held at Living World, Alam Sutera as a part of the Living World?s 1st Anniversary Celebration.
At this seminar, Yori Antar mentioned that we could not preserve all cultures. ?However, we should preserve and save the living culture,? he added. The living culture will continue bring new culture. ?Indonesia is extremely wide and it is such a shame if we do not know it,? told him. He suggested that every Indonesian has to possess the archipelago insights. He also suggested that every designer start to put Indonesian taste into their design. Indonesia is a huge nation. However, many people did not recognize that. Indonesia has inspired many nations all over the world. In fact, people from all over the world study about eco-building in Indonesia. Yori Antar said that people should change their capitalist mind set. ?This nation?s mind set is into industrial revolution whereas we are the nation of craftsmen,? he explained. Ibam Arafi also regretted the fact that the young generation did not know anything about their culture. Therefore, reconstruction of the culture was strongly needed, said Kuntara. Besides seminar, the event Recycling Culture also featured exhibition held from February 3, 2012. The exhibition displayed 20 best artwork done by UPH, IKJ, and ITB students.
