Miss UPH Scholar 2012 : A New Beginning to Serve

Miss UPH Scholar was held for the sixth time in this year. Starting from the first elimination phase through interview, 35 best participants from various major then selected. These participants were later asked to write an essay about MUS 2012 tagline : F

Miss UPH Scholar was held for the sixth time in this year. Starting from the first elimination phase through interview, 35 best participants from various major then selected. These participants were later asked to write an essay about MUS 2012 tagline : F

 

Miss UPH Scholar was held for the sixth time in this year. Starting from the first elimination phase through interview, 35 best participants from various major then selected. This 35 best participants were selected again into top 20. These 20 participants were later asked to write an essay about MUS 2012 tagline : For Every Beauty Is Timeless. The assessment on these 20 contestants was begun from this essay making until the crowning night Miss UPH Scholars 2012 on Monday, April 16th 2012.

The crowning night was started by opening dance by 20 contestants, then guest star performance. That evening became a tense evening for those contestants, because they would be selected again into top 10 finalists. These 10 finalists later selected again into top 5 finalists, then top 3 finalists.

Coming as the judges were Stephen Lester Metcalfe, MA (Director of UPH Sports Department), Dr. J. Kirk Kauffeldt, ED.D. (Vice President for Student Development and Spiritual Formation), Ferliana Suminto, MBA (Vice President and Administrative Services of UPH), Zukhriatul Hafizah (Miss International Friendship 2010 and 1st Runner-up Puteri Indonesia 2009 ?Duta Lingkungan?), and Dwi Sutarjantono (Editor in Chief Ezquire Magazine Indonesia & Editor at Large Fitness for Men Magazine and Hello Magazine Indonesia).

Eventually, the moment that had been waiting for has come, which was the announcement for Miss Favorite, Miss Congeniality, 1st dan 2nd runner up, and Miss UPH Scholars 2012. Yerissa Giovanna from Communication 2011 came out as Miss Favorite, Deasy Juwita also from Communication 2011 as Miss Congeniality, Maggie Nathania from Medicine 2011 as 1st runner up, Desiree Tan from Accounting 2011 as 2nd runner up, and Angelia Wangkar from Medicine 2009 as Miss UPH Scholars 2012.

   ?I was very surprised, very grateful, and speechless when I was announced as Miss UPH Scholars 2012?, Angelia Wangkar said. For her, MUS 2012 was an event which for the 20 finalists has become a way to serve UPH.

When she was asked about what made her won, Angelia answered humbly that it was God?s grace and His plans, and because of all the supports. This crowning night has become a very precious night for Angelia. ?This crowning night was not the end, but it was a new beginning for us to help each other in running the vision and mission for UPH. This event was priceless because it was not an ordinary journey, but it was a journey of faith that made all of the great experiences that I had built my character, which was not only becoming the ambassador of UPH, but also becoming the ambassador of grace?, Angelia continued.

As Miss Congeniality, Deasy Juwita was also grateful for having an opportunity to participate in MUS 2012. ?By participating in MUS 2012, I made friends and became like a family with other finalists. Family, experience, knowledge, and joy. What more to wish for???, Deasy said. (ft)
