The economy used to be based on agriculture, based on services, but now it is based on creative economy. This creative economy is based on creativity and characterized by the presence of value added”, he explained. Creative economy has infinite value added. ?For instance, a stick of wood which is considered bad and does not have any value, with creativity, that wood could be carved and modified into a work that can be sold expensively?, said Prof. Dr. I Gde Pitana. Indonesia is the second country, after the United Kingdom, that has a ministry who manages creative economy particularly. Tourism has mutual relationship with creative economy. ?A tourism destination is not likely developing without creative economy. In other hand, creative economy also might not develop without market. The target market for creative economy is tourism?, he explained. Colleges or universities also played an important role in creative industry. The biggest challenge in creative industry was the human resources. Colleges and universities were expected to help the industry by preparing each of their alumni to be a competent human resource, in order to stabilize the creative economy and develop this industry.
