Service Learning Community (SLC) held a social project themed ?Let?s Have Some Fun?, in cooperation with Yayasan Usaha Mulia (YUM) on Monday, April 30th 2012. YUM aims to improve the living standart of the people around through health, education, and community development aspects. This SLC event was located at Desa Cibadak, Cipanas. The event, which was themed ?Let?s Have Some Fun 2012?, was led by Lady Diana, Food Technology 2010 student. The event was divided into several activities based on the age of the participants, which were activities for student in 1st – 3rd grade in elementary school , the students in 4th ? 6th grade in elementary school , junior high school students, and the mothers.
The event was started with the activities for the 1st ? 3rd grade elementary students, such as singing together, drwaing competition themd ?my family?, and playing educational games like puzzle and guessing the flavor of some fruits. The other activity which was also interesting was making chocolate balls, involving YUM?s refferal students in 4th ? 6th grade. All participants were excited to make the chocolate balls and could not wait to taste it. Those chocolate balls were also decorated to be participated in decorating competition later. ?The appraisal was not only determined by the children?s creativity in making and decorating their chocolate balls, but also determined by the hygiene during the making proccess?, said one of the committee. After the gift provision, the children may taste their chocolate balls. ?Hmmmm, it is delicious?, said one of the participants while tasting his chocolate balls.

UPH students also organized an activity for junior high school students. They were taught about Love and Dating. They were asked to assess whether they understood the definition of love, whether they have been ready to be in a relationship, what the purpose of being in a relationship was, things to be avoided in a relationship, and other things about social interaction among young people. There was also a competition to make Love and Dating poster with magazine snippet.

The committee aslo held cooking demo and parenting seminar for the mothers. For cooking demo, UPH students showed how to make nugget from oyster mushroom. The parenting seminar which was themed ?All Children Are Intelligent? was spoken by Kusuma Wardhani, Service Learning Section Head, contained guidance to mothers concerning various compound intelligence within by a child.
Beside those training activities, two representatives from Career Development and Alumni Services (CDAC), Maria Natalia Satyarti, as the Manager of CDAC and Dharamanita, as the Section Head Internship also provided consultation for Yayasan Usaha Mulia?s staffs about the foundation?s role to help the people they served to find a job.
The event was lasted well. The participants were looked very pleased and enthusiastic, they were cheerfully and actively participated during the activities. UPH students who joined in the committee also felt the same excitement. ?The events was exciting and fun, but I also feel challenged to have a conversation with them and play with them, especially the stolid childrens. I feel grateful to live my life after I saw their humble life?, said Vanny Angelia as one of the participants in this Let?s Have Some Fun.
