In average, there are 3 Indonesian scholars get this award every year, and especially for the last period, there are 4 scholars. This proves that Indonesian scholars are also qualified. It was stated by Adityo Setiawan, Scholarship Outreach Officer from Australian Embassy on scholarships program socialization on Wednesday, 30 May 2012. Scholarship program that was presented in this occasion were Endeavour Awards and ADS (Australian Development Scholarships).

ADS is scholarship program for Master and Doctoral level, which was funded by Australian government and has been lasting since 1950. ADS, that offers more than 400 scholarship for 2012 – 2013 period, aims to cooperate with Indonesian government to improve Indonesia into a better, democratic, and secure country.

One of the requirements to apply ADS is the applicants have to had IELTS result minimal 5, or TOEFL result minimal 500, or IBT result minimal 61. The applicants also have to apply into higher level, for instance a master graduate has to apply into doctoral level. The age limitation for the applicants is 42 year old. ?It is better if the applicant has already had correspondence with the Australian university?, Adityo said. ?The applicant, who is called to do the interview later, also must be willing to join EAP (English for Academic Purpose) program. This program gives some brief introductions about Australian culture and studies of written English?, Adityo added.

Similar to ADS, Endeavour Awards is also offered for Master and Doctoral programs. ?Not only for Master and Doctoral programs, Endeavour Awards also gives scholarships for professional development,? said Adityo. Endeavour Awards offers more various scholarships, such as Post-Graduate Awards (max 2 years for Master program and 4 years for Doctoral program), Research Fellowship (a scholarship for doing a research in Australia), Executive Award (for professional development in 1-4 months), Vocational Education & Training, and also Prime Minister Award. ?Prime Minister Award was given to top 20 candidates in Doctoral program from India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. These 20 candidates have a chance to get this award, including AUD 35.000 additional fund and internship opportunities. In average, there are 3 Indonesian scholars get this award every year, and especially for the last period, there are 4 scholars. This proves that Indonesian scholars are also qualified,? Adityo explained.

In contrast to ADS, Endeavour Awards does not give age limitation to the applicants. ?Endeavour Awards also requires the applicants to enroll to the university first, then apply for the scholarships later?, Adityo said. Besides covering the tuition fee, both of these scholarships also cover other costs, such as living cost, round-trip ticket, health insurance, other ticket if there is a research that must be done in Indonesia, and cost for family reunion. The deadline for Endeavour Awards application is 30 June 2012 and 17 August 2012 for ADS.
