UPH, in cooperation with Microsoft, officially opened Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) at UPH on December 7 2009. MIC, which is operated by Faculty of Computer Science, has been conducting training activity, application development, research and working on various projects. One of the projects which was held recently was training to SMA Tarakanita Gading Serpong students.
Team MIC UPH provided training about programming language, such as SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) and HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) using Microsoft products like Windows operating system, to SMA Tarakanita Gading Serpong students. ?Team MIC UPH provided training first before giving a project to make a website to the students?, said Aditya Rama as MIC UPH team member, who also a lecturer at Faculty of Computer Science.
In making a website, Nabila Kirala, Vinny Verany, dan Mitzy Christabel, whose website was considered as the best website, admitted that they faced difficulties at first. ?It was confusing at first, but then we tried to collect the content, then finally it was done. For the website?s lay out, we made it in 3 hours, but for the content, we have collected in 2 weeks?, they explained.

SMA Tarakanita Gading Serpong students said they were glad to participate in the training and hoped the training could be continued. Besides that, according to Aditya Rama, this activity was also good for the faculty students, because they could share the knowledge to community, such as high school students. This training also aimed to give broader knowledge to high schools students about software, so it could raise the students? interest to develop the technology, and expected to be useful for people. At UPH itself there is Faculty of Computer Science, that offers degrees in Information Systems which focuses more on the system analysis and software development, Informatics Engineering which focuses on artificial intelligence system and telecommunication technology, and Computer Engineering which focuses on integrating computing devices into nearly all aspects of modern living.
These areas of studies are further divided into several areas of concentrations so students can master in the areas of Computer Science that they fancy. Lectures are conducted under guidance of distinguished professors and professionals, all holding Master and Doctoral degrees from various national and international Universities. (ft)
