Wednesday, August 1, 2012 marks the first day of academic year 2012/2013 UPH community and the new students. On this day, the new students were introduced to UPH at UPH Festival. Since 7 a.m, about 1700 new students has come to UPH. In this welcoming Wednesday, August 1, 2012 marked the first day of the 2012/2013 academic year for the UPH community and about 1,700 incoming students. The new students were introduced by UPH?s Interim Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Connie Rasilim, S.S., B.Ed, M.Pd, in an assembly during the UPH Festival.
The Rector, President, Vice-presidents, and other Senior Management members of UPH warmly received the incoming students. After a greeting from UPH?s Rector, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., the ceremony then continued with greetings from other Vice-presidents.

Connie Rasilim, enthusiastically welcomed all of the new students. ?Usually students look forward to studying at a university because they think they will have more freedom. However, freedom can only be enjoyed if you have true knowledge and true faith,? Connie said. ?In providing a holistic education to all students, UPH not only delivers content, but also nurtures transformational skills. Therefore, UPH has also developed the Faculty of Liberal Arts (FLA) to support the students in their efforts to contribute to society,? she continued.
During UPH Festival, all of the new students were accompanied by their mentors. These same mentors will continue to guide the new students throughout their first year at UPH. (ft)
