Inauguration of HOPE Counseling and Assessment Center
On Saturday, August 4, 2012, HOPE Counseling and Assessment Center was officially launched. The new building was inaugurated by Pdt. Yakub B. Susabda (Head of HOPE Counsleing and Assessment Center), Aileen Riady, and Hanna (Chairman of The Board).
After the inauguration, the event later continued by seminar about what counseling is, with speaker Pdt. Yakub B. Susabda. The seminar was opened with a short remark from James Riady. In his remark, he shared about dysfunctional life he used to experience, but then he joined STTRII (Sekolah Tinggi Theologi Reformed Injili Indonesia).

Pdt. Yakub B. Susabda then explained about counseling. ?Generally, counseling is a therapeutic conversation to help an individual who consciously or not, have a problem in their life,? he said. Ninety percent of human beings did not realize and did not know himself and what they had done and what was happening to their soul. ?Everybody needs manifested love in compassionate care,? he continued.
In this seminar Pdt. Yakub also said that surely there was a hope although we were in a tough condition. ?I do not believe in hopelessness. With God nothing is impossible. Someone who realizes that he needs help will be ready to play the role of client who is willing to cooperate with the counselor,? he explained.
HOPE Counseling and Assessment Center itself was established to help people to find an answer, raise self potential, and be a good listener. HOPE Counseling and Assessment Center was established under Yayasan Kristen Harapan dan Kasih, who also cooperated with STTRII and Faculty of Psychology UPH. (ft/ch)
