For the first time ever, all of the companies and institutions under the parent group of Lippo Group and the Educational Foundation of Pelita Harapan collaborated in Career Expo. This event was held at the HOPE Center of UPH Main Campus, Lippo Village. As many as twenty one companies and institutions were participating, such as Pelita Harapan University, Pelita Harapan International School, UPH College, Dian Harapan School, Lentera Harapan School, Siloam Hospitals, PT. VisioNet Internasional, PT. Berita Satu Media Holdings, PT. Lippo General Insurance, Tbk., Lippo Malls Indonesia, PT. Grahaputra Mandirikharisma, PT. Lippo Karawaci, Tbk, PT. Matahari Putra Prima, Tbk., PT. Multipolar Technology, PT. Linknet-First Media, Tbk, Lippo Homes, Books and Beyond, Orang Tua Group, the Aryaduta Hotel, PT. First Media, Tbk., and Nobu National Bank.
As for Pelita Harapan University, it will be opening the recruitment of new lecturer posts for various faculties in regard to the expected increase in the number of students that the university will admit. This also applies to other companies and institutions within the same group.
According to Maria Natalia S.A., as the manager for Pelita Harapan University?s Student CCO and executive committee of Pelita Harapan Career Expo 2012, this event is aimed to show the synergy amongst the university, the Education Foundation of Pelita Harapan, and companies within Lippo Group to accomplish a common objective in coping with the growing need of and improving qualified human resources. This event was targeted to three market segments: existing students of and alumnae of Pelita Harapan University, as well as the public.
?Out of the eight hundred students expected to graduate from the university next December, as many as thirty up to forty per cent of them, based on a survey, have been planning to apply for positions in various companies. The rest are intending to pursue master?s degrees or initiating an entrepreneurship. A number of last-semester students willing to look for real working experience might as well apply for internship posts or part-time staff in these participating companies and institutions.
On Wednesday, 21st and Thursday, 22nd of November, the event was open especially to existing students and alumnae of Pelita Harapan University. Yet, the public could attend the event on Friday, 23rd and Saturday, 24th of November. ?The guests are expected to bring along their job application and CV; fill an application form at the desired company?s booth. Those who are shortlisted from an early selection process will be invited to interview sessions on Saturday, November 24, 2012,? Mrs. Maria Natalia S.A. explains.
Furthermore, there are approximately two hundred and fifty to three hundred job vacancies. She also adds, ?As far as the graduates of Pelita Harapan University are concerned, they have been representatively recruited to work for Lippo Group: as full-time employees, working in internships, fieldwork, as well as research team.?
The university?s Career Center regularly holds career expo and on-campus recruitment for its fresh graduates and alumnae. Previous events prove that the enthusiasm is still kept high, averaging from five to eight hundred visitors during the career expo event. ?The initial day, November 21, recorded a number of one hundred guests coming.
