Indonesia Minister of Health, Dr. Nafsiah, this morning (22/8) gave a inspirational lecture in front of 2500 new students of UPH for the academic year 2013/2014. This lecture is one of the events in UPH Festival 20 to welcome the new students to UPH.
In her lecture, the Minister told 5 most important stages in her life-experience that could inspire the new students. The minister has experienced many ups and downs in the fields of public health, particularly at rural and poor areas. The experiences have emphasized the importance of having the passion in her works, ?The true happiness can be felt when we could serve the poor people and in need of help,? said the Minister.

Dr. Nafsiah also spread her passion for studying from her continuous learning-experience, which finally brought her to the Harvard University. Her mother played a big role in Dr.Nafsiah?s passion for learning. From her, she read many books in English and Dutch language that eventually makes her be able to master those languages for communicating in the international world. The Minister whose age is now 72 years has a big passion for the health condition of Indonesia, especially in the female health and the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
The Minister also encouraged the student to be a generation that does not hesitate to serve marginalized people. ?You study not only for the sake of the title, but also for having the heart to serve,? said the Minister, quoting UPH Rector?s statement at the beginning of the lectures.

At the end of her lectures, the Minister gave out 5 advices to be success: Do not stop learning. Help others without expecting any to return. Use any open chances. Do not quickly whine, but do the action. Do not let others limit your dreams. Last, pray, because God loves you.
Approximately 3000 participants attended this lecture. Among the Rectorates, Founder of UPH – Dr. (Hon) James Riady also attended. (RH)
