On March 17, 2014, BEM UPH presented the annual grand final of Miss UPH 2014 theme “Reflect Your True Beauty”. This event took place at the Grand Chapel UPH starting from 7 pm.
After taking part in the selection and training hard for a few weeks, 20 finalists performed optimally delivering their best charms to captivate the sympathy of the jury. 4 judges were called to judge the finalists namely; Mary Rahajeng (Miss UPH 2009 and Miss Indonesia 2014), Vania Larissa (Miss Indonesia 2013), Mr. Metcalfe (Director of Sport UPH), and Nabilla Shabrina (Miss Tourism 2013).
To spice up the event’s grand final, Casia Agata, Jimmy Lim, and also Deasy Juwita (Cici Jakarta 2012) entertained the audience by singing popular pop songs such as “Let It Go”, “Unconditionally”, “Chasing the Sun”, and a lot more during the event. Cici Panda and Jansen succesfully engaged the audience with their excellent skill as a host making the whole atmosphere felt more relaxed and less tense while waiting for the result of assessment from the jury. Of course, with the help from UPH student Erick and Ibeth which handed out gift vouchers from “Denim N Reality” in between various shows.
The selection process was carried out in sequence from top 20 to top 10 finalists who each drew out a question and was required to answer in full sentence for 30 seconds. So is the top 5 and top 3, but the questions continued to be more and more challenging as it was delivered spontaneously from the judges.
3 Finalists includes Clarissa Angelica (Communication 2012), Elika Nathania (Product Design 2013), and Catherine Therese (Biotechnology 2012) competed head to head in the round. Catherine Therese (Biotechnology 2012) had the honor to become Miss UPH 2014. Meanwhile, rank 2 went to Clarissa Angelica (Communication 2012) and Elika Nathania (Product Design 2013) got the third rank.
Ranti Susanti won the category of Miss Favorite (International Relations 2013) by as much as 26 percent while Ria Gabriella (Music 2012) was crowned as Miss Congeniality.
