Seminar ?How We (Indonesia) Compete in Global Trade Via SCM/Logistics?

In the seminar, which started from 13.00 to 15.00, the speaker was able to wrap the discussion deeply and detail about logistic. Logistic itself is a process that include planning, producing, and also control flow that is efficient and effective from the goods or the services between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to fulfill consumer necessity. Ricky also explained in detail about logistic, start from the logistic processing to 3PL (Third Party Logistics).

Ricky explained that 3PL is a company which gives services that are needed to other organization in the form of transportation, warehouse, and even operational system in a particular company. ?Imagine if we are working on all those aspect such as transportation, warehousing, shipping, packaging, sorting. How many employees we need to hire in a company?,? asked Ricky. That?s why 3PL is needed to reduce the number of employees, and also the expenses cost.

To close the seminar, Ricky also stated that logistic is one of the most important activities in each company. Not only that, but logistic also own 10 percent until 30 percent of contribution in each expenses, and the most important thing is the capability in logistic, to know when we need to do it alone, or giving it to the 3PL services.

Supposedly, this seminar will enrich students? knowledge about industrial engineering in the logistic process, which is an important part of business. This knowledge might be used by students when they enter the working industry.
