The Closing Ceremony for BCNC Program at FON UPH

In June 7, 2014, FoN UPH held a farewell party with the guests from Boromarajonani College of Nursing Chiang Mai (BCNC),Thailand, at UPH Faculty of Medicine Auditorium. This event was packed in a form of cultural exchange event. In the beginning of the party, students of FoN UPH performed a war dance (Tobe dance) from

Irian Jaya and was followed by an opening prayer.

Christine Sommer delivered her short speech in the farewell party for BCNC Thailand

In her speech, Christine Sommer, the Executive Dean of FoN UPH expressed her gratitude to the students and lecturers of BCNC Thailand who have visited FoN UPH and that it has been a great honor to have welcomed an international guests like BCNC Thailand.

 

?Although there are differences of the country and culture, as a nurse we all have the same responsibilities to maintain and serve the community. Hopefully, through this collaboration, we can all give the best education to equip nurses who can be leaders in serving people all over the world and develop global health,” explained Christine.

 

 

 

Wilda Gunawan, FoN UPH student representative, also shared her experience on her professional program whit BCNC students. “This program was a 2 weeks program, but for me it ended so soon and tomorrow they were going back to Chiang Mai. We learned many new things from them. I hope this this collaboration could be beneficial and give positive impact on health development in Indonesia and Thailand. May this relationship can work well and we might be able to visit Chiang Mai,” said Wilda.

 

Furthermore, Dr. Pimjai Aunban, as a supervisor of BCNC program, expect that this visit will become the beginning of a good collaboration to develop a better nursing education. BCNC was very impressed with the experience and knowledge that FoN UPH has given for two weeks. She saw the leadership potential in students of FoN UPH and taught the important things about what a nurse has to do in the community. “A good relationship between the community is essential for a nurse,” said Dr. Pim.

Manus Matthanthong, which is usually called OK, one of BCNC Thailand student, was very grateful to FoN UPH who has welcomed them warmly and also accompanied them for two weeks. This visitation gave him memorable experience both in education and also cultural. He hopes someday he can welcome the FON UPH students at BCNC Thailand.

After the speech from both party, the event was followed by traditional dance, Candle dance,  by BCNC Thailand students. At the end of the event, there was an exchange of souvenirs and followed by taking photos together. The event was finally closed with a friendly farewell lunch. (ca/pris)
