This 25th graduation was held altogether with UPH 20th anniversary in 27 September 2014. The graduation theme, ‘Higher Calling’, was made to encourage graduates to find a ?higher calling? that can contribute to the nation and to glorify God. Graduates were reminded to remember God?s help and kindness so they may have succeeded in their studies.
In his speech, Rector of UPH, Jonathan L. Parapak, quoted the Bible from John 15:16. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit ? fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
?From this verse, we can see that God himself is the one who calls, determines, and sends you. Likewise, we also send these graduates to go and bear fruit. To create and renew the community. Probably, you would say ?I?m ready to work, earn money and become famous.? That?s fine. But the most important calling is the one from God. It?s not merely to be rich or smart. But it is about how to find your higher calling and be useful for God?s glory and many people,? said Rector. (rh/seli) |
